Basics, Basics, Basics – with these you can do anything.
I believe that every dog deserves to be listened to and understood. My goal is to always help owners understand their canine friends.

Who runs Ferns Path ?
My name is Nicola Farmiloe and I have been working with dogs from the age of sixteen. I come from a background of fishing, shooting and other country pursuits. Having always had a keen interest in dogs and how they work, my passion began at an early age.I have worked professionally as a dog trainer for four and a half years, based from a working training kennel. During this time, I utilised experience from previous younger years, whilst also developing new skills within the professional environment. My time spent at the kennel ranged from ‘one-on-one’ training, group classes and training residential dogs. Before entering the professional world of dog training, I worked for a referral veterinary practice where I gained my Animal Nursing Assistant certificate. I believe training dogs is about gaining the trust and friendship of not just the canine, but the owner too. I adapt myself to meet client needs and I enjoy the friendship that develops through both the training of the canine and the honing of the owners’ skills.

Why choose Ferns Path ?
I am a proactive trainer who will always aim to help your canine through positive reinforcement. I believe a firm, clear approach is the key to a happy, healthy dog.
Using this method ensures both dog and owner enjoy the training session. I have never used the ‘old training beliefs’ that scare or harm your dog. Negative reinforcement, due to incomplete knowledge, is detrimental.
My focal point is to connect with you and your dog, allowing you to understand your dog’s potential and work in harmony as a team.
I love to see the relationship between human and canine flourish to its full potential. Fern’s Path has a variety of training paths for you to take. If you have a puppy, adolescent, young dog, adult, or even an ‘oldie’, I have the class for you.
Whether via ‘one-to-one’ training or within a group environment, I can both establish and develop a variety of skills between dog and owner. These include; fundamental basic obedience, puppy training, behavioural issues (including reactivity), gundog skills, loose lead walking and a reliable recall.
Both classes and ‘one-to-one’ training are held at a farm with secure stock fenced paddocks in Romsey. I also offer home visit consultations for those wishing to begin their journey.
